Shhh... don't tell, but I'm supposed to be trying to conquer this mound of papers. Ugh, I haven't gotten this far behind in grading since, since, since... yeah, you get my point. A goal I have been succeeding at this year was staying on top of grades. Not this week. Not this girl. Nope. I mean, I haven't even rolled out of bed before 6:05 in two weeks. And, if you know me, that is L-A-T-E. However, that is what the last three weeks of school does to you. It makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. You know, like have day dreams of smacking kids in the back of the head. What? What's that you say? You already had those earlier in the year? Yeah, me too. Anyways...

A couple of days... maybe weeks ago... (that's another thing this year has made me do: neglect my blogging)... I mentioned that I had made my own second grade writing paper that featured a self-check for the six traits of writing. Well, I used it this past weeks and it was a huge hit! The only problem with it is it ended up having too few writing lines. A problem I was really NOT expecting to have with this class. It's a GREAT problem to have, is it not?! So, after observing this dilemma, I decided to revamp it and make a paper with a front and back. The other is still available if your kiddies are still not at the, "LOOK I'M GOING TO TRY AND FILL BOTH SIDES ALL THE WAY TO HERE (student points excitedly to bottoms of the page with pencil)!" This new paper really helped them write better. The week before, I didn't have one student make an A on their writing. This week, I had 10 make A's! The self-checking forced them to look back at what they wrote as their final draft. They were very honest about their work, too. Get your one-sided copy here. Or, if you think you need the two-sided copy, click here. Below are a few examples of my sweeties' hard work using their fancy, new writing paper.
